Betsy Cox, Clay Artist

          I have always been involved in the arts. As a child, I was encouraged by my parents to draw and play with clay. Art was my primary interest all through school. In High school I took all the art classes I could and tried many different media and learned to keep a daily sketchbook that I still do today. Watercolor became my main media but always had a yearning to play with clay as I did in childhood. It was not until 1994 that I had the chance to really study clay and start to work hard at it. In early 2000, my dream came true when my husband built me a studio and I realized how passionate I was for clay. My work can be functional, whimsical and always fun depending on my mood. I create pieces to please me and hope that someone else will enjoy them too. I hope you do too.
